The Papa Doble Cocktail

Also known as the Hemingway Special, this cocktail was created for Ernest Hemingway during his time in Cuba and has evolved to incorporate pink grapefruit juice and maraschino liqueur; the author preferred his daiquiris without the sweet syrup and an extra shot of rum. Add or takeaway ingredients according to your tastes and enjoy.


60 to 90ml white rum 

25ml maraschino liqueur

30ml fresh pink grapefruit juice

30ml fresh lime juice

15ml simple syrup

slice of lime to garnish


Add a handful of ice into the cocktail shaker, add all the liquid ingredients and shake vigorously for 10 seconds. Strain into a cocktail glass and garnish with a slice of lime.
